Uber-layering: In The City

The Uber-layering project explored ways in which large amounts of information can be delivered through layering, then applied the techniques learnt to the layering of building functions and requirements to create an intensive multi use architecture.

Situated in Auckland’s CBD, the project aimed to contribute and assist the existing city, while supplying a high density architecture to help with the minimization of urban sprawl. The form itself was derived from external imfluences such as natural lighting and traffic flows.

The structure employed an exo-skeleton integrated into the facade, which then combined with the space frame floor structure to create a super structure that allows for large scale construction while maximizing useable space.
